‘Creative Reuse ‘ - Talk by Geoff Rich, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios

Thursday 28th February, 5pm - Budden Lecture Theatre

Geoff will discuss Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios award-winning design approach to the creative reuse of existing buildings, which integrates repair and conservation with architectural and environmental design. His case study projects will include award-winning projects for both ancient and Modern buildings.


Geoff Rich RIBA AABC FRSA

Geoff is an Architect and Managing Partner at leading architectural practice Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios. He works as part of the Bath, London and Manchester offices. Having completing his architectural studies at the University of Newcastle, Geoff joined FCBS in 1996, became a Partner in 2000, and takes a leading role in the practice’s Creative Re-use, regeneration and masterplanning work. Geoff is currently leading the design team for the University of Liverpool’s Masterplan. His other current and recent projects include the regeneration of oldest surviving iron-framed buildings in the world at Ditherington Flax Mill in Shrewsbury, a transformational project for Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, and the restoration of a Grade II listed Modern office building in Basingstoke. Geoff is a long-standing member of CABE's South West Design Review Panel, and a Design Council CABE Built Environment Expert. He is a Lethaby Scholar of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and the acting Chairman of the Fabric Advisory Council for Exeter Cathedral. He is a visiting lecturer at several universities, and has lectured on conservation and sustainability in the UK, Europe, USA and South East Asia. When he’s not at work he rides his bike a lot.
